Trauma

Helping you heal from the trauma and move forward with compassion and hope

You may be here because...

  • You’ve experienced or witnessed a terrifying event or events (traumatic event).

  • You experience repeated thoughts, flashbacks, or dreams related to the events.

  • Seeing, hearing, or feeling things related to the events cause you discomfort.

  • You avoid places, people, objects, or even thoughts or feelings related to the events.

  • You are easily startled, or are constantly on your guard or feeling tense.

  • You experience strong negative thoughts about yourself or the world around you.

  • You experience strong negative emotions (fear, shame, guilt, anger) toward yourself or others.

When we experience traumatic events and these reactions to them, we are often feeling on edge for what seems like no reason. We sometimes have angry, even aggressive, outbursts in an attempt to protect ourselves. We can struggle to feel positive emotions. In order to manage or avoid these things, we will isolate ourselves, avoiding people and any possible reminder of the events. We may seek to cover these up by throwing ourselves into work and other responsibilities so we don't have time to think or feel about what we experienced.

How I can help...

I can help you find relief from the troubling memories and events you have experienced. I can help you reframe what you've experienced and see these traumatic events through a more forgiving and compassionate lens.

You can learn to see these events in the context of your whole life, and stop defining yourself by them. You can learn to live your life where you are in control, and don't have to worry about reminders of the events controlling you.
